Tuscany is an area of Italy near the central part of the country and is located on its western coast. It is home to a number of impressive islands that have made them popular for yacht charters and sailing holidays. It is also home to the city of Pisa. The Tuscan Archipelago is the most popular area that a Tuscany yacht charter can bring people along. This is an area that consists of a number of different islands off of Tuscany that can be found right between the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian Seas. These islands are famous for their beaches and mountains as well as their lush forests. In fact these areas are ones that were originally from the ancient Tyrrhenia continent that sank into the sea millennia ago. The most popular of the islands in the area is Elba. This is an island that many charters stop on for people on holiday in that it features all sorts of wineries and is also home to a large house that Napoleon Bonaparte was exiled to for a year in 1814. Other islands to visit include Capraia with its famous harbor, Giglio and Montecristo with its massive forest. The nearby island of Corsica can also be visited through many charters. Elba is also home to Porto Azzurro, a beautiful port town that is home to a large marina. Forte S. Giacomo, an old Spanish fort, and Fort Forcado are both right around the city and are great places to visit on a charter. When visiting Tuscany through a yacht charter for a sailing holiday it will be easy to get a good charter to work for one’s needs. Most charters that serve Tuscany will be ones that can dock from the Italian mainland or in areas around it. A typical charter will start in either Piombino or Porto Azzurro. The ports of Cala Galera, Porto Santo Stefano and Talamone are also popular areas with Talamone especially popular thanks to its many restaurants. A typical itinerary will go primarily from Elba to Montecristo, Corsica and Sardinia. This comes from how these islands have calm water conditions that can make a trip more enjoyable. It is also easy to find a variety of different types of yachts that can be used for a sailing holiday around Tuscany. In most cases a typical charter will cost about six thousand pounds for an entire week. This is for an average-size yacht or sailing boat that can fit six to ten people. Be sure to take two things into mind when sailing to different areas around Tuscany when on a holiday. First, in order to get onto the island of Gorgona a visitor will need to get permission from the Ministry of Justice. This comes from how Gorgona is home to a large prison. The area can be visited through a guided tour though. Also, in order to visit Montecristo a charter will need to watch for the limit on how many people can visit the area during the course of an entire day. As a Nature Reserve according to the Council of Europe there is a limit on visitation on Montecristo in that only a hundred people can visit the island during the course of a day. A typical charter will work to make sure that reservations are made on a certain day to visit the island.
