Mallorca and Minorca Yacht Charter and Sailing Holidays Guide for Vacations

The southeastern Spanish islands of Mallorca and Minorca are two islands in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea that are perfect for a yacht charter or sailing holiday. These areas are popular thanks to how there are all sorts of different areas that a charter can stop at when on a holiday. These include resort towns, bays and even trips to nearby Cabrera.

An average charter that serves Mallorca and Minorca will have a route that lasts seven days and can take people across both islands. People can stop by the southeastern Mallorca town of Colom and enjoy the nightlife of the area. Pollensa, a resort town on the north of Mallorca, offers miles of white sand beaches alongside a large bay.

A number of places can be visited along the island of Minorca too. The primary destination in Minorca is the eastern port of Mahon. This is an area that has several protected anchorages for ships along with a large urban area with plenty of bars, clubs and shops. Ciudadela is another popular part here and the Cala de Algayerens, a large mostly uninhabited bay with two different beaches, can be enjoyed here.

Some trips can even take people to the nearby island of Cabrera. This is located right off of Mallorca and is a noted snorkeling site that features a massive marine reserve. This is an impressive place but it helps to know that in order to get here a charter will need to get a permit at least five days before getting into the area. Most yacht charters that serve Mallorca and Minorca are located in the Mallorca port city of Palma. This area is located about fifteen minutes away from the island’s airport and features a massive marina with a variety of different nightclubs to enjoy before or after heading out to sea on a charter. Some charters are also available to start in Mahon but they are few and far between.

Yacht charters and sailing charters around the area will feature a number of different types of ships. Because of how sunlight is very plentiful around the islands for most of the year most ships from charters will have massive sundecks where people can enjoy the outdoors and relax onboard. A shower can be found on a charter as well to help with making it easier to prepare for diving or to wash off after diving in one of the many snorkeling areas around the islands.

The weather should be considered when planning a holiday here. Temperatures will be calm during most of the year in Mallorca and Minorca as well. In the summer temperatures can get to be 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit) and a comfortable 20C (68F) during the evening. In the winter months temperatures can get to be between 5 and 15C (41 to 59F). Therefore it helps to dress accordingly when on a yacht charter or sailing holiday at any time of the year.
