Croatia Yacht Charter and Sailing Holidays Guide for Vacations

The beautiful lands of Croatia along the Adriatic Sea are impressive places to visit when on a yacht charter. A yacht charter or sailing holiday in Croatia can be an exciting activity to take part in but it will help to take some considerations in mind when getting into the area for vacations.

When in Croatia there are four different sailing areas that people can sail in. First there is the Istria area on the northern coast of Croatia. It covers Cres Island and the city of Pula. Many charters can offer side trips to the nearby Italian city of Trieste.

The Kvarner Riviera is the next area to see. The port of Rijeka is located here and is the busiest of all ports in Croatia. A variety of small resort towns with clean and pristine beaches can also be found around here. These include such places as Opatija and Rab Island.

The Kornati Islands are part of the third area. The area is home to more than a hundred different islands alongside many anchorage areas where people can stop and dive to nearby areas. The Dalmatia district is the fourth place for yacht charter and sailing holidays to take place in. This district features the beautiful islands of Brac, Hvar and Korcula alongside the cities of Trogir, Split and Dubrovnik. A large series of islands with their own unique archipelago can also be found here.

A variety of different types of yachts and sailboats can be handled along Croatia. A number of charters in the country offer ships that range from crewed yachts to luxury yachts along with smaller sailboats and catamarans. Bareboat yacht charters can also be made available in Croatia. However a person who wants to captain a boat will need to pass a proper exam to be able to handle a boat in the waters of Croatia.

Support for yacht charters is especially strong alongside Croatia. There are about forty different marinas for boats on holidays throughout the entire coastal area of Croatia. Most of these marinas can be found alongside some of the largest cities in Croatia including Pula, Biograd and Split.

When out on a sailing holiday it will help to be sure a charter has a proper license for going through the waters of Croatia. The captain of the charter must have a navigation permit that is issued according to general specifics of that person’s home country. For instance, a captain based out of the United Kingdom must have a license from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency to operate a boat along Croatia.

A captain exam at the office of the Maritime Affairs Management group can be taken by those without licenses. Passing this exam will grant a person the right to handle a yacht or sailboat that is up to twelve metres in length along Croatia.
